BayanDSL: Unlimited Internet, Unlimited Disconnects
It was 3 months ago when I decided to add up an internet connection from Globelines Broadband, but unfortunately they failed me since their service gets disconnected everytime and has a limited coverage of services like no port 22 and POP3 related ports.
And so I got to know with BayanDSL. BayanDSL is not new here in Davao, infact during their first operations they are intact with Globe Telecom which became their MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) provider. On the first week of March just this year, I went off to their office to subscribe to their DSL package which is Plan 899. This package has an downstream rate of 786kbps and upstream of the same rate. This package also includes SOD (Speed-On-Demand) a unique feature of BayanDSL that allows users to avail of a downstream rate of upto 1.2mbps.
Without further interupptions, I signed up with their DSL application form and pay 1,000 PHP for the installation fee. After a few days, I got connected with BayanDSL with a blazing speed test rate of ~950kbps and an upstream rate of ~880kbps which is beyond their advertised speed. At that point I know that those rates are not permanent as this is the first day of my DSL life, since I didn’t subscribed to any DSL yet here in Davao since the first time I went and live here.
April comes, and yet there are still no sign of disconnects and still my connection is 200% more stable than my Globelines Broadband. May comes and I have this slight problem with my connection, that was I couldn’t connect to their servers due to line problems. I called up their technical support which took me about 10 dials before they answer my call. As for this moment, I am only calling their mobile hotline since we do not have a telephone line. A fault ticket has been created and a tech from Bayan Telecommunications went to our house and checked our lines and after that my connection went back to stable.
Now June came, just 4 days ago, again I’ve been experiencing disconnections but I just ignored it since this is normal on most ISPs, but then again I got too irritated when it also appears on the following day that was Monday, I got a lot of disconnects, like 15 times per hour, isn’t annoying or should I say irritating? Then again I called up their tech support, and took me about 8 dials before they answer and after 24 hours a tech came in to our house and said that there’s no problems with my line from my end to their DSLAM, and so I was wondering if there were no problems why am I always disconnected from the current session. And to the fact that the DSL light is not stable it blinks and blinks to an unlimited blinks and unlimited disconnects.
Until now and as of this moment I got a lot of disconnects, an average of 5 disconnects per hour, and about 10-20 minutes of connected. What I only want from BayanDSL is that they should not always keep on saying that there’s no problem with my line but I think there is, why not check physically the cables. I know that would take too long for them but for atleast they checked it for a reason.
With regards to their customer service representative, they should keep in mind that they are working for Bayan Telecommunications and they are not working just to earn money. I have a talk with their CSR at NCCC Mall of Davao in their office, which is very irritating and I guess she’s not that customer friendly, I explained to her about what happened to my connection but she just said “OK! OK!” in a louder voice. I guess her family name is Nicolas, I saw her chat log with other CSR on her left. I think she do not know anything or how to handle my kind of issue and she’s not worthy to be a customer support representative.
