PhilCom DSL

Dec 28

Its been days now since I’m here at Mati City and I’ve been also using Philcom DSL since I got home and I could say it really sucks. But before anything else, I like you to meet Philcom.

For your information Philcom is a telephone and internet service provider that expands services over Southern amd Northern Mindanao. Apparentlly, Philcom is only available on such cities like Butuan City, Cagayan de Oro City, Bislig, Iligan, Mati City, that offers “low fees” on such services, (I don’t think so). Just recently about 29 days ago, PhilCom DSL was installed here in our house so as to have a better and faster internet connection which they don’t have. As far as I know PhilCom offers better internet speed than SmartBro since a known internet cafe that is equipped with about 45 computers and amazed with their download speed average of 50kbps which is comparable to a 400Kbps dedicated internet connection.

As far as I know I’ve been using PhilCom DSL for about 6 days now and whew I was not that amazed but really disappointed. Actually, there have been a lot of things I don’t like on their service but yet first and foremost is the promised speed of 384 kbps with a burstable speed upto 512 kbps (which I don’t believe in). Second, customers service support. I need to dial 930 (PhilCom DSL 24/7 hotline) and tell the officer what are the issues we are currently facing and I think they’re not jotting down the number of calls we’ve made, escalation process and if you want to reset your connection you they need to call the IP Center (that’s what they’re telling me), and sometimes the IP Center isn’t available for some reasons, and still with the customer support I think I was talking on the same and or one CSR. They’re voices are all the same. Isn’t that frustrating? Lastly, the connection dropps eventually like using the telephone or gaming. Really frustrating! :-(

As as of this moment I wrote this post I am offline since the connection dropped out and I cannot contact 930 and phone responds a consecutive faster toot tone. Really bad, PhilCom is really not a good ISP nor telephone provider.

  1. FYI, the cities that you cited particularly Butuan, Cagayan de Oro and Iligan are NOT remote cities..

Butuan and Cagayan de Oro can be accessed by planes of both PAL and Cebu Pacific direct from Manila and Cebu. These cities also served as regional points within the northern Mindanao areas.

    Thank you

Sorry I’ve overlooked that one but actually I was about to delete the word “remote” but I forgot. Thank for the correction.

    Post edited. Happy Holidays! :D
