PLDT Opens Up Fiber-To-The-Home in 2009
Jun 08
Philippines largest internet service provider, PLDT opens its doors to fiber-optics technology. As far as they are concern, it was then implemented to 0ffer Fibe-To-The-Home (FTTH) service, to residential subscriptions among its subscribers. Based from the initial tests conducted by PLDT, FTTH service will provide maximum burst speed of upto 94.86 Mbps for download and an upload link of 69.39 Mbps which is comparable to most ISP in the United States.
The service will be initially marketed to high-bandwidth residential households that includes Fort Bonifacio, Global City, Forbes Park, Urdaneta Village, Ayala Alabang, Dasmarinas Village, Wack Wack, Ayala Heights, Valle Verde and certain areas covered by PLDT Subictel and PLDT Clarktel.
Hopefully, this would be a successful project of PLDT as their competitors will also do the same in the near future. Also, this should have less problems like we usually encounter with our current lines, like frequent disconnections, downtime, and etc.
